IN IRELAND.
THE QUEENSTOWN OUTRAGE. OFFICERS RELEASED. PEk. rBESS ASSOCIATION —COPYBIGHT LONDON, March 24. Eleven Irish officers, have been released, because the arrests were unauthorised.
Jim Larkin, expelled last week from the Irish Workers’ Union, decided to form a new Labour party in Ireland.
STRENUOUS MEASURES DEMANDED. The “Daily Chronicle” says that Britain has not yet reached such a stage of submission that she can pass without comment the outrage at Queenstown. President Cosgrave has already denounced the criminals. The leaders of all parties, including the recent mutineers, have condemned the outrage. We hope the chorus of disapproval will fortify , the Government into taking strenuous measures to bring the murderers to justice. Southern Ireland’s supreme dangci lies in its army, with factions ready to threaten the State y ith force. We are disturbed at the fact that the very soldiers who plotted against the Government have been rewarded by dismissal of the Army Council and General Mulcahy. Ireland can only hope for recovery by reassuming the supremacy of the civil government. The destroyer Scythe will embark the body of the dead soldier for transportation to England on Tuesday.
The Free State authorities are anxious to participate in the funeral service before the Scythe leaves Queenstown.
