OAMARU JUBILEE SHOW
In its report of the North Otago A. and P. Diamond Jubilee Show, the Oamaru Mail has the following anext exhibits from Waimate district : —■
Mr I. Andrew, of Waihao Downs, was the only exhibitor of English Leicester-, but the quality was undeniable.
Mr E. M. North, judge of the Friesian section, said the exhibits were of very even quality all through. The winning cow in milk, Mr J. Briggs' Model Dark Rose, was a splendid beast, and showed putstanding dairy qualities. The judging of the Hacks and Hunters proceeded slowly owing tb the number of entries, and the uniformity of quality, but Mr J. Lewis made a good job of the awards. Mr Harrison’s Six Cylinder, Waimate, who has an enviable record at Christchurch and elsewhere, was the pick of the five weight carriers, -while Miss McLauchlan’s Self Defence from the same locality scored in the 13 stone section from eight others. There were 11 entries in the 11 stone hacks, and. of them Miss D. Mowat’s Spanker, a pretty black, war the elect, with Mr Medlicoft's chestnut Kilvera second in a vdry good lot. Waimate provided a strong com t'ngent among the backs and hungers, and the district's reputation was very well maintained, for it annexed most of the red tickets.
It was‘unfortunate that owing to the late arrival of the Wainjate 'drain many of the earlier classes had to be judged minus the outside entries.
