BUTTER AND EGGS

The local market prices this afternoon were given by the grocers as follows:

‘Separator Butter —’Wholesale from lOd to lid; retail from 1s to Is Id. Dairy butter —Wholesale from 9d to lOd; retail from lid to Is, Eggs—Wholesale 8d to lOd; retail lOd to Ip.

ST. ANDREWS STOCK SALE. The fortnightly sale was held yes. when only a small entry was offered. Competition was not keen anti sales were difficult to effect. Aged ewes with lambs sold at 8s Id to 9s 3d, half bred wether hoggets 13s, store wethers 15s 6d, mixed sexes hoggets 14s. Id; milch cows £8 10s, £7 12s fid, £7 ss, £6 ss, £5 10s, £5, £4 10s, £7 10s, empty cows £4 ss, young cattle £2.

CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS. There is still no mors to record in the local grain market, transactions in wheat being very few; and in oats there is nothing doing in the absence of offerings. Chaff is very firm, and for immediate delivery it is reported that an advance on the later rate has been paid.

Potatoes have further advanced in price and 42s fid to 45s has been freely paid to secure supplies for shipment north.
