The review of the .Metropolitan tioops is not likely to have created a favourable impression on Sir lan Hamiilon. lie was kept waiting five minutes belore the officers were aware he had arrived. There was an embarrassing delay in at ranging the troops and the salute of flu; massed bauds was so far 'away a i to be hardly heard. The General expressed himself apleased with the look of the men and the way they marched past, hut said that as a ceremonail parade gave the renewing officer a chance of seeing how the officers handled their men thev must not bo taken by surprise. He (the General) must be looked upon aan enemy, because lie tried to pick holes in everything. They should be ready for him.
