BRITISH CABINET CHANGES.

ARRANGED* WIRELESS.

REPORTED PERSONAL FEUD

JPfcß PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.]

LONDON, June 15,

Some interesting disclosures have been made regarding the Earl of Loreburn’s retirement from the post of Lord High Chancellor. Lord Lcrqhurn’s resignation and Lord Haldane’s acceptance of the portfolio were arranged by moans of wireless messages that were exchanged with Air. Asquith while the latter was on the I-.1-di'erranoan. When Lord Lorehurn wrote his letter of resignation it was transmitted by wireless to the Prime Miniser, and the offer of the portfolio was communicated to Lord Haldane in the same way. It was generally expected that Air. Asquith would succeed the Earl of Lorehurn if the latter could ho prevailed upon to retire. This, however, he is sai dto have stubbornly refused to do, because of a personal fend with the Premier. The Lord Chancellor had no objection to resigning, hut ho would do so only on the understanding that Air. Asquith should not succeed him.

The approaching retirement of Mr. Asquith is rumoured to have created a serious split in the Cabinet, the members of which can come to no sort of agreement as to who should succeed the Prime Minister.
