THE WRECK OF THE MAY.

Auckland, Oct 28 The decision of the Court of Enquiry into theloßS of the barquentine May states it was found that the vessel was well found and equipped, and that all conditions ot the customs and pilot were adhered to. The vessel was propeily ballasted and the timber cargo not excessive. No doubt the gale rose very suddenly and the surf on the Coast was very heavy. This may be stated as the i cause of the wreck. - There was reason to believe that errors .of. judgment were made in the handling of the May, in lashing the helm and not getting under aail, but the master and crew having perished it is unnecessary to go further into the question. r It was evident that the captain *of the steamer Pilot was confused and unreliable but the court was of opinion he ' cancot be blamed for the wreck of the May. The finding practically is there is no one to blame.
