Beautiful weather is now experienced and promises to contiuue for the holidays, although rain is badly needed for the farmers and gardeners. The principal attractions will be the cricket raatoh, Marlborough v. Nelson, on Christmas and Boxing Days, Nelson Tennis Association's tournament on Monday and Tuesday, sports at Wakefield and Moutere on Monday, and regatta New Year's Day. WELLINGUON,|DeC 24. During the last two days a welcome change in the weather has taken place It is now bright and hot and promises to remain fine over" the holidays. An unusually large number of visitors are in the city and, trade appears to be much brisker than in previous years. Dec. 26. So far the weather for the holidays has been magnificent and shows every sign of continuing so. The ouly possible complaint is on tKe score of heat, which has been most oppressive for the last few days. The streets were thronged on Xmas eve but the crowds did not appear to be ao dense as last year. This is accounted for by the fact that the exodus from the city haa been larger than usual and the number of people travelling is much in excess of the previous years. Steamers and trains took full complements but the attractions of bicycling touring were responsible for the heavy drain from the city on Xmas eve. The trades people are quite satisfied with the volame of business last week, which they describe as having been very brisk. There are no attractions for the holiday-makers in town to-morrow.
