WARD'S BANKRUPTCY

iRVERCARaiLL, July 13. A meeting of Mr Ward's creditors takes place at 2.30. The statement, omitting shillings and pence, shows unsecured [creditors £31,265, secured £86,926, less estimated value securities £41,416. Total debts £82,681. Assets sash in hand £71, furniture, £200. The principal unsecured creditors {.are the Ward's Farmers Association Liquidation calls on shares £30,400; Oliver Samuel, solicitor, New Plymouth, £350; Ward Farmers Association, £207; Lee Smith, Dunedin £l2o; J. B.Reid, Christchurch £100.
The secured creditors in the estate of the Hon. J. G. Ward are— Bank of New Zealand, £7,211, secured by sundry liens of that value; Bank of New Zealand, £17,000, secured by the face value of Nelson Bros shares of £16,000; Bank of N^ew Zealand, £55,000, secured by equities (£3,000) and the surrender value of a life policy of £300; Scottish and New Zealand Investment Coy, £3,500, secured by mortgage over land and buildings in Dee street, Invercargill; Mantel's executors, Dunedin, £1,200, secured by mortgage over section in Dee street valued at £1200 ; Maitland's trustees, Dunedin, £2,065, secured by land in the Crescent, Invercargill, valued at a like amount; Bank of New South Wales, £809, secured on Invercargill Tramway Coy's stables, etc, valued at £800.
The meeting of Hon. J. G. Ward's creditors to-day adjourned till 6th August, the debtor to be requested to prepare and deliver to the Assignee, before 3rd August, full, true and particular accounts and balancesheets showing partic.ulara of receipts and expenditure, stock takings, profits and losses for 3 years preceding the bankruptcy.

There is a possibility that the examination of Hon. J. G. Ward and the directors and officers of the Ward For mars Association may not be open to Jo press. The usual practice under the Companies Act & not to allow notes to be taken. Even counsel engaged in the case are supposed to destroy any notes they take in court It is understood that unless a stroag case is made out for the examination being public Judge Williams will take the sitting in camera, only it will be held in court for the convenience of counsel instead of his own room.
