He would also like to know what co-.trol t,he Borough C'ouucil had over the Boa'd's properly. —The Chairman explained that the Borounh Counc 1 aced as tte pio ec:6r of the public. It stood between ihera and tie publ-o bodies.— Mr Kenny thought the letter was an act of retaliation on the part of the Council He knew tbe part referred to, as it was under hia notice every day. — The Mayor suggested that the matter be held over Eventually a resalution waa passed to that effect.
Letter from Mr Thorpe, asking for per* mission to deposit ba'last for the Zephyr along-ide the wharf — Request granted. Letter from Mr Mjr.io, engineer, with reference to bags bulging. — Received. Letter from Mr Fo'bes. — Received, and re f erred to the Reserves Oommi'tee, with power to act.
The Finance Committee's report, which iuvolved acjounti to the amount of £101), wa* read and adopted.
Mr Hudson said he- thought the printing and advertising cont act had lapsed, and he wou'd lite to know wbat steps were going to te taken in future.

Mr Hudson, before the meeting adjourned, asked what information had been received relating to the various reserve 3 to be vested in the Board. — The Secretary explained that Mr Clarke was now preparing plans for the same. Mr Hudson also moved, that seeing the position o£ the Board's finances it would be as well to forward a telegram to the Government, pointing out how near the time wad for the Board to pay its sinking fund. — Mr Kenny said that this continued bringing of the Board's financial position before the Government was worn threadbare. He thought Messrs Bonar and Bevan were quite capable oE looking after the interests or! the Board. — Eventually it was resolved to send an urgent telegram, calling the attention of the Colonial Treasurer and the members for the district to the fact that the sinking fund had to be paid on June 17, and urging them to take immediate steps to relieve the Board from its financial embarrassment.
This concluded the business and the Board adjourned.
