GREYMOUTH RACES.
Geetmouth, December 26. The weather was beautiful, abont 1500 people on the ground. Omotumotu Handicap, 2Osovs.— Three horses started. The Field, Kensington, apd Try-Again. Thi9 was not a satifsactory race; The Field won, Kensington was not pushed ; Try- Again had no chance. The Hack Race was won by Sandfly beating six others. Midsummer Handicap, 50sovs. — Kensington was scratched ; Greyhound won by a length; Lady Grey, 2nd; Elfin King, 3rd ; Whalebone was out of it. Hurdle Handicap, 20sovs. — Three started, Tommy, Kensington, and Whalebone, the latter two did not appear to run and Tommy, on passing the Judge's stand first time, turned off into the paddock. There was considerable excitement amongst the people, calling it no race and hooting. Ooon after Tommy saddled up again and ran round the course ; the people still very much disgusted. Eventually the stewards notiOcd that the race was null and void. Brunner Stakes, 25 soys.— Only three starters, a very hot race from start to ! finish between Tne Field and Lady Grey, the former winning by a neck.
