TO SCHOOL COMMITTEES, WESTLAND. ri ENTLEMEN.— Understanding that \X I have been nominated, in two or three places, for the vacancy at the Central Board of Education, I wish to say that I AM NOT A CANDIDATE at present. By and bye, when Weßtland's interests, and the interests of a TRUE AND REAL STATE SCHOOL SYSTEM come to be considered by persons now prepared to sacrifice both for'the sake of their miserable bigotries and narrow minded jealousies, I may come before you to ask your support again. No doubt these persons will become " clothed and in their right mind ' when brought to their senses by observing the transference of the Education Office to Greymouth. They would gladly ascribe part of the blame of the loss to Westland, of the present seat, to me, were I in the field. lam not inclined to gratify them. I return my hearty thanks to the School Committees of Goldsborough, Kanieri, Blue Spur, Kokatahi, Christchurch Road, Totara, Okarito, and Gi lespie's, for their votes in my favor at the recent election.
