THE DEAD-LOCK IN VICTORIA.
Melbourne, January 12. It is rumored that unless a speedy settlement of the dispute between both Chambers of the Legislature is arrived at, a dissolution of the Assembly may be expected enrly in March. At a Cabinet meeting to be held on Monday, Mr Graham Berry will probably submit the names of certain officers of the department under his jurisdiction for dismissal. The services of twelve School Inspectors are dispensed with. Further changes in the Railway and Public Works departments are contemplated. It is stated that a Bill to reform the Legislative Council is being drafted. This will be the first mensure submitted to Parliament on its meeting on the sth of February. Should the Council reject the measure, the Government will appeal to the country, on the ground that the Legislative Council refuses self- reformation.
