The Hokitika State Schools will open ibis morning. There will be a meeting of the Uospital Committee at the usual hour this evening. The annual meeting of the Hai-bor Board took place on Saturday at noon, in the office at the new Transit Shed. Present — Messrs D. Virtue (chairman), Chesney, Hall, th" Mayor, and the Collector of Customs. The audited statement of accounts submitted tv the Board was pasßed, on the motion of Mr Chesney, seconded by Mr Hall . An irregular discussion took place respecting tlie necesnity of doing something to direct tlie water from the south into the north channel of the river. Finally the Board adjourned until eight p.m. on Tuesday evening. We are requested to draw special notice to the large unreserved sale to-morrow, by Messrß P. A. Learmdnth and Co., of Boult and Cunningham's farm, Arahura, with all stock and implements thereon; also, at the same timeand place, Butler's Island, Arahura, being allotment 44, containing about 17 acres of good cleared grazing land. The first competition for Lieutenant Learmonth's cup took place at the Hokitika Rifle Range on Saturday, the 12th inst., with tlie following result.
