AN ORCHARD INVADER.
(To the Editor.)
Sib,— l see the Colorado beetle is monopolising the attention of the world. All the honors are bestowed upon him; his portrait is taken minutely and, sent everywhere; the newspapers exhibit. him in their columns, and, in fact, the nations are on the look out for his appearance: Yet we have here an innocent little bird, who wears the green, the pet of the forest, a gem of its kind, and so tame that one would think he never, sins. But that tame little green paroquet has sinned this season against the settlers ; for not content with his own berries in his own dominion, he has invaded our orchards and destroyed all our frmts. Cruel boreas has felown. ofi our pear and apple blossoms ; Jupiter Pluvius has swamped our strawberries ; the river has carried away our ferns and land, and we thought the wreck was great enough. The cherries have braved the Btorm, but the paroquets came, and all there is left our share is the stone hanging from the trees. They ate the flesh and left the skeleton. Like the Turks they completed the carnage by finishing what waa left in the battlefield, or wounded, or sick. Apologising for troubling you, I am, &c, J. Bladier. Arahura, January 10, 1878.
