Newly-Formed Hautapu Defence Rifle Club Holds First Practice
The newly-formed Hautapu Defence Rifle Club held its first practice shoot on its range at Waiouru on Sunday. There was a good attendance and, considering the strong side wind blowing, the scores recorded were good. The official opening of the club will be held in the near future.

The Bond buttons changed hands during the week-end, when Dr H. M. Hay and A. J. Buckley (challengers) defeated J. McCullough and C. Murphy (holders) by three points on the 22nd head. The score was equal on the 21st head, 21-21, and the holders sportingly decided to play another head in order to reach a decision, although they are not required to play more than 21 heads. This competition is proving popular in the club and every week the holders are called upon to meet challenges.
