Kapsan Captured By U.S. Troops

SEOUL, No. 19 (Rec. 10 pm).— United States infantry, supported by tanks, today captured bomb-devas-tated Kapsan in north-eastern Korea, and then pushed on toward the Manchurian border, 21 miles to the north.

The 17th. Infantry Regiment of the United States Seventh Division moved through the town in near zero weather after surprising the enemy defenders in foxholes just south of Kapsan. Colonel Herbert Powell, commanding officer of the 17th. Regiment, said the tanks crushed the North Koreans in their well dug-in positions and inicted heavy casualties. The Seventh Division was reported to have driven an assault spearhead into Kyonangni, 14 miles below the Yalu River this afternoon.
