Private Air Charter Firms To Supply Transport Aircraft
LONDON, Sept. 22 (Recd. 7pm).— The Air Ministry has accepted an offer from a number of British private air charter companies to supply aircraft and equipment which can be used in an emergency for transporting troops or war materials. These aircraft will be used as the basis on which to form the auxiliary volunteer training squadrons of Transport Command. The charter firms have also offered to carry out maintenance work for the Royal Auxiliary Air Force Squadrons which are short of ground staff. A conference is to be held shortly to work out a detailed scheme.—N.Z.P.A.
