The September meeting was held at 1 the home of the president, Mrs. A. S. I Anderson. There was a good attt'idI ance of members and friends. Ar--1 rangements were finalised for the j forthcoming flower show. | Mrs. Waterland gave a demon- ] stration on the making of cellophane hats. I The wandering shilling was won by i a visitor, Mrs. Rex Hone. The competition winners were: Indian doll, Miss Sanson 1, Mrs. Lennox 2, Mrs. Fraser 3. Best bloom, Mrs. Lenno?< 1, Mrs. Fraser 2, Mrs. MacDonald 3. Afternoon tea was served by the 1 hostesses, Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. A. S. Hone. Westbourne I Westbourne held its monthly meet- ' ing on Tuesday last in the Custiecliif j Town Hall. Mrs. F. Cantwell, vice--1 president, presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. F. H. Uttley. Mrs. Stihoorn and Mrs. Tunnicliite were appointed to canvass business premises for the health stamp campaign. Mrs. Cantwell agreed to collect lor the Town and Residential Nursery appeal. Mrs. Tunnicliffe, Mrs. Fletcher and Mrs. Wallis are to arrange and despatch the food Xmas parcels to England from Westbourne W.I. members. ; The meeting decided to dispense I with the b./Jiday chest. j Several members gave in their ' names to attend the floral demonstra- ‘ tion to be held in October. It was an- ! nounced that Westbourne’s annual ; spring flower show is to be held very ■ shortly. I Mrs. F. H. Uttley was appointed to ■ write the three minute report on the ! early history of the institute, to be • read at the half-yearly federation ' October council meeting. • Mrs. Cameron read the president’s letter from home and country. I Mrs. Chant won a social competition and Mrs. Cameron the advertising quiz.
Flowers were sent to Mrs. F. H. Uttley and Mrs. Honeyman, who were absent through sickness. Mrs. Vinten, Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Stillborn agreed to make floral sprays for the federation meeting. Results of competitions: Best bloom, Mrs. Burns 1, Mrs. Wariloo 2, Mrs. Stillborn 3. Quilt patchwork, Mrs. Vinten. Bottle of fruit, Mrs Stillborn 1, Mrs. Vinten 2.
