St. Luke's Mothers’ Union’s 11th. Birthday

The 11th birthday of St. Luke’s Mothers' Union held on Thursday commenced with a church service conducted by the Rev. V. C. Venimore, whose subject for the address was “Behold Thy Mother.” Mrs Mead presided at the organ and 'the M.U. choir was in attendance. After the service a social gathering was held and members and visitors, including Mrs J. Lnmberj, of the Archdeaconry Group were received by the door hostesses, Mrs E. Hibbard, enrolling member, and Mrs C. White, secretary. All the branches in Wanganui were represented except All Saints’ as it was their meeting day and they sent greetings. Mrs Hibbard presided. Songs were sung by Misses Audrey Hood and Margaret Pellow, and recitations given by Mrs P. C. Lee. Sprays arranged by Mrs E. Stewart wore presented Io Mrs Lambert, Mrs Mead, and those contributing to the programme The candles on the cake were lit by the vicar and were blown out by his nephew, Vai Venimore junr. Mrs Lambert, cut ihe cake and extended greetings io St. Luke’s Mothers’ Union on attaining its 11th birthday. She spoke of (he Quiet Day Io be held at St. Peter’s next month, when Ihe Rev.
