GOLD SCRIPT ENTERED FOR ELLERSLIE SPRINT

AUCKLAND. Last. Night (Special) —That, brilliant galloper of last, season, Gold Script, has been entered in the sprint on the first day of the Auckland fixture next month. He has been sprinting well for a few weeks now and so should be well forward. Tudor Prince, wffio participated in several of the exciting special weight races as a three-year-old last season, does not figure in the Auckland entries, so he will probably be on hand at. Trentham and Riccarton. He has had two sprint races so far this season and will not take long in getting to his best. Regoli, now trained by A. Cook at Te Awamutu, was confidently supported in his’ division of the maiden at Thames, and this event did not present him with much difficulty. He should develop into a useful sort of three-year-old and he will probably be seen out again at Te Aroha next i week. He became ineligible tor the 1 maiden event at Paeroa this week. One of the most impressive maiden winners of recent times is Intrepid, who made light ol his task at Thames last week. He was always travelling like a winner and at the end he was going only a little more than haltpace. Intrepid is to run next at Te Aroha, and this bigger track will suit him well. At. the end of the season the Instinct-Foxsen colt should be holding his own in the handicap class. Flying Shah, who was heavily back- 1 od to win the Avondale Stakes a year ago and in the interim had shown no pace in the few starts he has had. was produced again at. Thames This time ihe revealed encouraging form, lor after being badly placed in the middle stages of a maiden race he came home strongly to be not far away from the placed horses. The grey colt may make good yet. CMib’ ”' z ' ’■•o 1- ''nt •the Auckland meeting next mo L sit I the A..c..iaa,i i.i v.ing . .onln, so it is possible that he will not reappear in handicap racing until Trentham next month with this as a prelude to the New Zealand Cup. Herowin signalised a return to racing by scoring in the hack sprint at Thames last week, 'the fact that he was second favourite suggesting that his new trainer. H. Long, had worked some improvement in him. This was borne out in the result, for Herowin led all the way and finally scored

well if narrowly. Motunach migh't have made the task of Herowin much more difficult if he had come home the quickest way. but he veer?d out all the way up the straight to finally go under by a neck. This was a smart effort, for the three-year-old was conceding the winner 111 b. Motunach may do much better next time out. Cimtore continues to run good races under weight. With 9.1 on Saturday he finished within two necks of (Herowin and Motunach. an excellent performance on the Thames track and this after not receiving a particularly good run. Cimtore may do better in open company when he will get some of the weight off his back. He is entered in this better class at Ellerslie next month. El Salto was given his firs’t hurdle race at Thames. Although he failed to pay a dividend in spite of being made favourite his showing was such as to inspire hopes for the future. He jumped all right.tif a bit slowly at times, and ho may do bettor next, time out. which outing may not be long delayed Hormuz contested the same race and he got into trouble at. the fence at the live furlongs, which he bungled through the panel being almost inverted. He was le-me when he came back.
