Closing Basketball Tourney In Marton Won By Kopane The tournament which wound up basketball in Mai’ton on Saturday lor the 1950 season was contested by 12 teams, from the Te Kawau Association, local club teams and a contingent from the Maori Girls’ College, produced some very bright matches. The holders of the Tournament Cup, T.M.G.C. (No. 1) were unfortunate to lose a closely-fought contest with Kopane, and with a little more accuracy at goaling would undoubtedly have reversed the result. St. Andrew's perforrned brilliantly in their section play, starting the afternooh with a surprising, but well merited, defeat of Athletic and continuing undefeated, to win the section convincingly. Points and winners of the three sections were:— Axsection: Won by Konarie, 6 points; T.M.G.C. (No. 1) 4; Me? ton, 2; Turakina 0. B section: Won by St. Andrew's, 6 points; Athletic 2, M.D.H.S.
