CHICQUITA NARROWLY WINS AT MOONEE VALLEY
MELBOURNE, Sept. 10 (Recd. 7.5 pm).-—Chicquita, loading slake winning mare in Australia, yesterday gained the luckiest win of her career when she beat Achilles by a few inches in the John F. Feehan Stakes at Moopee Valley. Starting at 2/1 on, she stayed in the 'bunch with Achilles, Iron Duke and Comedy Prince until the turn. She ■ was on even terms with Achilles ail th.;- way down the straight but could not get her nose in front till the last yard. She has now won £14,135 in I stakes. Achilles surprised by his fin- ' ishing effort and has greatly improved ! his prospects for the Epsom. Result: Feehan Stakes: Chicquita 8.9 (Puri toll) 1, Achilles 9.0 (Bougoure) 2, Iron | Duke 9.0 (Williamson) 3. Seven started Short half-head; length. Time, 1.38.
