FREE TRADE UNIONS SET UP ANTI-COMMUNIST VIGILANCE COMMITTEES
LONDON, Sept. 5 (Recd. 6 pm).The International Confederation of Free Trades Unions, which was formed when Britain, the Netherlands, the United States and Commonwealth trades unions decided to break away from Ihp World Federation of Trader Unions last year, has set up a vigilance organisation in Mediterranean ports to check attempts by Communists to use trades union machinery in order to foment strikes and other disturbances. In setting up this organisation the T.C.F.T.U. has co-operated closely with the International Trar« ort Workers’ Federal ionp, to which a majority of thp dockers’ unions belong. Vigilance committees are now working actively in North A f rica. Frarce, Italy, Israel, Malta and Greece.
