United Nations Appeal. “Your performance in 1918 was most satisfactory and encourages me to believe that you will not fail a good cause this time,’’ states a letter from ‘he president, of the General Assembly of the United Nations (General Carles P. Romulo) to New Zealand asking for assistance for the children’s appeal. “On behalf of all children everywhere who are in need and cannot help themselves. I appeal to you to give liberally for their lives and happiness in the best traditions of your noble people, who are so highly esteemed in the councils of the United Nations.”
