Heavy Rain In Taupo Area Is Reported

WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).—Heavy rain at Taupo and in the watershed in the higher country has given rise to hope for an improvement in the water available for the power supply. Heavy rain commenced at Taupo on Sunday and continued all to day. Tonight it was still raining heavily. The ''Dominion" correspondent at Taupo reported that from 9 a.m. today to 5 p.m., 1.22 inches was recorded. At 8 p.m. heavy and steady rain is still falling. This was a warm rain which should wash a lot of snow from the heavily-coated mountains.
