Sixteen girls of the Auckland Health and Beauty Movement, with .their leader, Miss Betty Barber, visited Wanganui for the week-end and were entertained by the local branch of the movement at a social evening on Saturday when over 70 were present.

The visitors were welcomed by Mrs. S. Newsome, teacher-organiser for the Wanganui Centre, also by Mrs. Olive Bracks, chairman of the local committee. In replying, Miss Barber thanked the centre for the very warm welcome. She then conducted a combined class of Auckland and Wanganui members in the Bagot Stack exercises. Dating the evening a graceful walking competition was held and judged by Mrs. Irevor Colway, whose awards were: Josette Younghusband 1 and Eve Murray 2, both of Auckland. Mrs. Colway commented on the high standard cf all those who had entered for the competition and said it had been difficult to judge. Mrs. Newsome thanked Mrs. Colway and presented her with a box of’ gold chrysanthemums. On Sunday morning the visitors were taken to the home of Mrs. J. Farley, Makirikiri (a foundation members of the Wanganui Health and Beauty Movement) and were entertained at morning tea. In the afternoon over 60 local members visited Mr. and Mrs. Newsome’s home on St. John's Hill and had tea there with the visitors before they left for home by bus.
