Unexpected Arrival Of Party Of Auckland Girls; Wanganui Helpfulness
The kindness and help they had received when arriving very early by train on Saturday morning was commented or. by a party of girls from the north. The visitors, numbering 16, were members of the Auckland Health and Beauty Movement, and due to a misunderstanding they arrived by the first train instead of the second and no one was there to meet them. The girls praised the helpful way the railway officers, a taxi proprietor and one of the local policemen assisted them. On explaining the reason of their visit the girls were able to get in touch with the leader of the Wanganui Health and Beauty Movement, Mrs. S. Newsome, with a result that the taxi took them up to her home in three trips. The girls, commenting on the helpfulness received in Wanganui, said such kindness was not met with in the large cities.
