RUSSIA’S DECISION TO CUT GERMAN REPARATIONS

LONDON, May 16 (Recd. 10 p.m.)— The British United Press correspondent at Bonn says the West German Economics Ministry described the Russian reparations announcement as “A propaganda trick to bluff the world.” It added: “It does not mean anything at all. The Russians will take out of East Germany just what they want to take and their demands from current production will probably even be increased.”

In Washington a State Department spokesman said Russia’s action in cutting German reparation payments was an empty propaganda gesture. He added: "There is not much of value left for the Russians to take. They have been looting East Germany for several years.”
