RED TOMATOES THROWN AT “RED” DEAN
OTTAWA. May 16 (Rec. 10 pm).—The Dean of Canterbury slipped out of the back door of the hall to avoid demonstrators after he had addressed the Peace Council in London (Ontario) last night. A stone was thrown through a window. The audience in the hall remained quiet while the dean spoke, but heckled the Rev. J. Endicott, chairman of the Canadian Peace Conference, and other delegates. Eggs and tomatoes missed Dr. Johixm, but struck others in the party. The police detained several persons. The dean left later to continue his tour throughout Western Canada.
