FORM IN MINOR RACES AT OTAKI MEETING

to two good sprinters in Whitley and Theocritus, Dynamic scored a rather impressive win in the Ohau Hack Handicap at Otaki on Saturday after having failed in recent starts when well backed. Those who stuck to Dynamic must have been amply rewarded, as she paid a surprisingly good dividend. Nalla’s Pride kept them going in the early part of the Ohau Handicap, but was joined by Dynamic at the three, with Lord BUrford, Mario, Bambton and Rescind handy. Dynamic had hit the front on the turn and she ran on to win by three lengths from Lord Burford, with Waipipi, who came home well, a neck away third. Hoeroa, badly galloped on after a bad start, was fourth, and then came Bambton, Mario and Baadin. Getting a run through on the fence as they turned for home in the Waikanae Maiden No. 1, Lady Lucina capitalised on her advantage and won by two lengths. Happy Man shifted his ground on the turn and took Gay Echo with him, and these two fought out the minor money, with the Marton mare getting it by a neck. Royal Paper was fourth, followed by Rusa and My Bobs. Just lasting out the distance, Lady Ella won the Pukehou Handicap by a head from the fast-finishing and unlucky Broiesome, who was slow away. Donbino began best and early led Lady Ella by a couple of lengths, with Pordine, Vulcania and Sad Sack next Lady Ella ran past the leader as they got straight and was winning well until Broiesome came with a wet sail. Just over a length away third was Vulcania, with Donbino a nose away, fourth. Then came Pordine, Retrieve and Despot. Recess only went a furlong and was pulled up. He had a fractured sesamoid and was destroyed. Though she was forced out wide on the home turn, where Lady Ecstatic and Pictawin were leading her, Floral Art finished best and won the Waikanae Maiden No. 2 by half a length. Pictawin just beat Serenade, who finished over Pick Up, Lady Ecstatic and Opononi. The Imp fell and Beau Roemont came down over the top of him. Striding past the early leader, Parc Pare, at the half-mile First Offence cleared out from the field over the final furlong of the Tainui Handicap, winning by three lengths. Jolly Robin, who had worked up to third with two furlongs to travel, was half a length in front of Frond, who had to make up a lot of leeway and also travel very wide. Irish Scholar was fourth in front of Night Royal, Pare Pare and Romberg.
