PRAISE FOR EMPIRE GAMES ORGANISATION
WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).— High praise for public response to the Empire Games, the great advance in the standard of Empire athletics, and the number of records broken, was expressed by Mr. A. D. Bayfield, president of the N.Z. Olympic and British Empire Games Association, at the annual meeting of the association tonight. He believed that individual national associations had played a substantial part in the undoubted success of the Games. The meeting unanimously passed two resolutions. One expressed appreciation and thanks to the Government for assistance before and after the Games. The other was a motion of gratitude to the Auckland organising committee. The following officers were elected: Patron, the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg; vice-patrons’, Ihe Chief Justice, Sir Humphrey O’Leary, and the Prime Minister, Mr S. G. Holland; president, Mr A. D. Bayfield; vice-presidents, Mecsrs Stuart Glendining, A. C. Kitto, D. T. Woodfield, C. G. Herdman and H. I. Austad; secretary, Mr. H. Amos; chairman of executive, Mr. A. D. Bayfield.
