REVENUE FROM POWER METRES FOR LAST MONTH A RECORD

Meter readings for May reached the highest amount ever recorded in the district in one month, being £16,808 an increase of £2251 over the return during the same period last year. This was reported by the secretary, Mr. G. A. Ammunsden, at the monthly meeting of the Wanganui-Rangitikei Elec-tric-power Board, yesterday. “The somewhat large increase at a time of restriction appears at first sight to be a little incongruous, but it is to be remembered that during this particular period last year and in 1947 there were very severe cuts in service, including complete “blackouts." The increase in revenue is consistent with the increased units that have been available this year, as a result of better hydraulic conditions,” added Mr Ammundsen.
