TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR FINAL NORTH AND SOUTH ISLAND CRICKET TRIALS
DUNEDIN, Yesterday (PA).—The New Zealand teams for the full-dress trial matches to assist the selectors of the cricket team which is to leave the Dominion on February 26 to tour England were announced this morning. The match between a team chosen from the South Island major associations and a South Island XI will begin at Christchurch on Friday and that between the North Island major and minor association teams will start at Wellington on Saturday. The teams chosen by Messrs J. L. Kerr, W. A. Hadlee and W. M. Wallace and announced by the secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council, Mr. E. E. Luttrell, are:— South Island Major Association team: L. D. Smith (captain), R. T. Hunt, L. A. Watt, D. S. St. John, L. J. Groves, I. Walsh, I. W. Galloway, D. M. Dunnett (all Otago), F. B. Smith, W. McD. Anderson, R. H. W. Scott and C. G. Snook South Island XI: K. F. M. Uttley (captain), A. Johnstone (both South Canterbury), I. Leggatt, N. Hoar, G. S. Botting (Nelson), F. Cresswell, A. E. Cresswell (Marlborough), J. G. Leggatt, P. O'Malley, R. F. Cook (Canterbury) and G. H. Mills (Otago). North Island Major Association team: W. M. Wallace (captain), B. Sutcliffe, V. J. Scott, D. D. Taylor* L. Partridge, C. Snedden, H. Moyle, L. A. Kent, C. C. Burke (all Auckland), G. A. Rabone, R. McK. Murray and FL. H. Mooney (Wellington). The North Island Minor Association team was announced last week.
