A.T.C. Cadet Makes First Solo Flight At Wanganui Airport

After receiving dual instruction from the Wanganui Aero Club’s instructor (Mr. G. A.’ Delves). Cadet J. Charles, a member of the Wanganui Squadron of the Air Training Corps, made Jus first solo flight in a Tiger Moth aircraft yesterday. He is the second of this year’s batch of A.T.C. cadets to go solo, the first successful trainee being Cadet I. Craddock. Three cadets are being trained by the Wanganui Aero Club this year under the Government scheme. They receive a total of 30 hours' flying, ot which 18 hours is dual instruction and 12 hours solo flying. The training is according to the schedule laid down for ab initia pilots in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. In their second year ,the cadets receive a further 10 hours’ free flying. Last year’s cadets have now finished their refresher flying.
