Efforts To Form New Government In Turkey

ANKARA, Jan. 15 (Rec. -6 p.m.)— President Inonu of Turkey has asked Mr. Shemsetting Gunaltay, vice-pre-sident of the National Assembly, to form a new Government to succeed that of Mr. Hasan Sake, which resigned yesterday. Shemsetting Gunaltay, like Hasan Sake, is a member of the Nationalistic Republican People’s Party, of which General Inonu is president. Political quarters regard Gunaltay’s nomination as something of a setback for the young progressive group of the party.
