Big Flour Mill Fire In Victoria
MELBOURNE, Jan. 15 (Recd. 6pm) —Fire last night caused the destruction of an acre of buildings at Noske Brothers flour mills, Charlton, 173 miles north-west of Melbourne, with damage estimated at £lOO,OOO. Losses include a large quantity of bulk wheat, 8000 bags of flour and 250 bales of flour bags.
Because the fire was near three oil depots in the main business and shopping centre of the town, the local fire brigade sent for help to towns 70 miles away. The outbreak was under control at midnight, and the fire had been prevented from reaching the main mill plant. The origin of the fire, which began in the flour and sack store, is unknown.
