Mrs. P. Riddiford, of England, arrived in New Zealand recently by air and is visiting Wanganui as the guest of Mrs. A. H. E. Wall. Miss Ngaire Wilson. Purnell Street, is paying a holiday visit to Tauranga, where she is the guest of Miss W. Burr. Mrs. John Groshinski, of Palmerston North, is visiting her mother, Mrs. A. R. Donaldson, Sarjeant Street. The Girls’ College has been fortunate this year in having the services of both xurs. S. Rankin and Mr. Paul Latham. Mrs. Rankin’s groups are appearing in the concert on Monday next, and Mr. Latham’s Vlth Form students will appear in “The Brontes,’’ a play bv Alfred Sangster, to be presented in the College Hall to-night and Thursday. The play promises good entertainment and it is hoped that profits will go some way towards defraying the expenses of the publication of “The Adastrian.” Today's Christmas Fair. Christmas gift articles, produce of all kinds, handiwork, sweets, cakes, white elephant articles, and meat will be on sale at the Christmas Fair being held today from 10 a.m. by the National Party (Wanganui Electorate) in the Savage Club Hall and adjoining Old Museum Hall. Morning and afternon tea will be obtainable, also tea between the hous of 5.30 and 7.30 p.m. A mannequin parade of period frocks will take place at 3.45 p.m. After tea Mrs. W. J. Polson will give a political talk, followed by an entertainment including a one-act play, musical items and songs in character.
