SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.

A wartime romance which flowered in Czechoslovakia following the Allied invasion of France had a sequel in St. Patrick’s Church, Napier, last Thursday, when Miss Marie Simackova, dressed in full Czech national costume, was married to a Napier exserviceman, Mr. J. H. Lee. Formerly of Prague, the bride arrived in the Dominion on Monday in the Rimutaka. The couple met when Mr. Lee was released from a prison camp. The bride’s hand-embroidered wedding gown cost her £lOO. Miss Simackova has a good command of English and can speak several other languages fluently. She could speak English before the war, but during the German occupation of her country its use was forbidden.
