Ranks Studios At Islington To Close Down
LONDON, Nov. 25 (Re c <l. 6-30 pm).—The Rank organisation announced that as an economy measure its large cinema studios at Islington wilt be c osed early in the new year. Of some 300 workers and technicians affected only a few can be absorbed by other Rank studios.
The announcement states that the closing down of the Islington studios does not mean that the Rank organisation will make fewer films. More pictures wLI now be made in fewer studios. The move is believed to be the first indication of a general retrenchment in the British film industry.
