Recd. 1.15 a-m. London, June 29. England’s tail was playing up at lunch, Evans and Wright, the last pair being together. Evans, with his customary make a stand and get runs if you can, piled up a run or two, an occasional boundary or so, and a cheeky single. Dollery did not last long after the break for rain, and he fell to Lindwall without adding to his score. The scores after the rain were:— Dollery, b Lindwall 37 Evans, not out 23 Laker, b Lindwall . . . n Bedser, c Hassett, h Johnston .. 9 Wright 0 Total for nine wickets . .. 179
