Rangitikei Hounds Cover Much Ground At Bonny Glen
Not since pre-war days have the Rangitikei hounds met at "Shirley, ’ Bonny Gien, and a good field turned out lor the hunt held their recently in perfect weather conditions. Besides a good muster of members from the Rangitikei Hunt, visitors were present from Waverley, Wairarapa, Levin, Kiwitea and Rotorua. ’the countryside looked a picture from the hilltops. A large area of country was covered and some good runs gave followers an enjoyable afternoon. At the end of the day, the field returned to the homestead, where they were entertained by-Mr. and Mrs. Philip Briant and Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Briant to a most welcome afternoon tea. A stroke match will be played on the Rangitira golf links tomorrow and the draw will be made at the clubhouse. Players are requested to hand in their cards to Mrs. Haywood. The winners of last week’s medal round were: Mrs. A. Rhodes, 94, 22, 72 (A grade); Mrs. Grace, 114, 36, 78, Mrs. Haywood, 108, 30, 78 (B grade).
• TWO ONE-ACT PLAYS. The first series of plays to be produced by the Marton Players will be presented in the Parish Hall. Marton, tomorrow night. The two one-act plays are “Evening on Dartmoor,” by Noel Munro, produced by Mrs. Blanche Frampton, and "Weatherwise," by Noel Coward, nroduced by Mr. Stan Laurenson. The Marton Musical Society will co-operate with a number of songs.
TWO WINS AND A LOSS FOR MINIATURE RIFLE TEAMS. Last week three teams from the Marton Miniature Rifle Club fired matches against Awahuri in the second round of the Manawatu competitions.
