Thirty-three teams from as far north as Hunterville, and as far south as Masterton will participate in the July tournament to be held next Saturday. This tourney is practically an innovation as far as the Wanganui Association is concerned. A request was made to the New Zealand Association to allow a cup to be played tor, but under the ruling of the English Women’s Association, to which New Zea-, land is a member,* was disallowedHowever, buttons will be presented to members of the winning team, funds for which have been kindly donated by citizens interested in women's hockey. The home teams have developed well during the season, and even as early as King’s Birthday week-end, were at the Feilding tournament. But their true value and strength will be tested on Saturday. College A, and two unbeaten Wanganui teams, were not at Feilding, and they may possibly surprise the strong Tip, United, and Humai A teams. Several Rangitikei teams will be playing and the hockey world will have a chance of summing up Rangitikei’s strength and prospects when they meet Australia in the forthcoming tour. Play commences at 11 a.m. and will continue throughout the afternoon.
