Picture Filmed in 36 Days By New Method

Only 36 days in actual production, Alfred Hitchcock’s new film “Rope” has been completed at Warner Bros, studio. It is the first of the films to be made under the banner of Transatlantic Pictures, the new Hitchcock-Bernstein company, and the record 36-day schedule included rehearsals for camera crew and cast, actual shooting and necessary retakes.

The production of “Rope” has introduced a novel method of filmmaking, devised by director Hitchcock to tell a story without time lapses in which all cuts, dissolves, fade-outs and other breaks in film continuity have been eliminatedFilmed in technicolour, “Rope” is from the play by Patrick Hamilton. The cast of the film includes James Stewart, Joan Chandler, John Dall, Constance Collier, and Sir Cedric Hardwicke.
