Wellington Ballet Dancer’s Success
(N.Z.P.A.—Special Correspondent.) Recd. 7.5 p.m. London, June 25. The young Wellington ballet dancer, 22-year-old Alexander Grant, is on the eve of another success in his career. He is to “create” the new ro’e of the clockmaker in the new ballet, “The Clock Symphony,” by the famous Russian dancer Massine, which will be produced shortly at the Royal Opera House. Covent Garden. by the Sadlers Wells Company. It. is an even more important part than he was given in “Mamzelle Angot” last year. Grant has won himself a reputation as a coming dancer since he arrived in London in 1946 voder a scho’.arship awarded bv the Rbyal Academy of Dancing. His appearance in this new ballet will be an important further step up in his career.
Benson Gate Trophy. Members of the Wanganui Harrier Club are travelling to Masterton today to compete a "gainst the Masterton Club for the benson Gate This is the first time the trophy has been competed for since before World War 11.
