HUNTERVILLE NEWS

W.D.F.F. REPORT. The monthly meeting of the W.D.F.F. was held recently. Mrs. McAlley presided. Memoers present were: Mesdames W. Simpson, Dalziell, Leaning, Scott-Maundreil, Henwood, Harre, Abel, McDonald, Laird, Walker, Wilson, Meads, Misses McDonald, Davies, C- and Z. Meads Apologies were received from Mesdames A. McAlley, Morrison, Harvey, Weston, O. Stewart, Kilminster, McNaught, S. and J. Roper. The meeting opened with the W.D. song and Creed. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Mrs. McAlley welcomed back Mrs-Scott-Maundreil and Mrs. McDonald and proposed a new member, Mrs. Edgar Green. Correspondence had been received concerning a Drama School, the recently acquired properties of ''Scotlands" in Auckland and "Handa” at Lowry Bay, and also further remits for the Dominion Conference. It was proposed and confirmed by the meeting that all provincial and conference delegates should have their fares and expenses paid from branch funds. Miss McDonald was nominated delegate by the Dominion conference to be held in Dunedin in July. It was decided that there was a need for a separate fund to be called a Social Fund, which was to be maintained by proceeds from trading tables and it was proposed that a second account be opened for a social fund. Mrs. Abel and Mrs- Harre volunteered to take charge of a trading table at the July meeting. • Two further appointments were made—Mrs. Simpson to take charge of the hostess roster and Mrs. Walker to organise the monthly social programme. The competition suggested for July was a pah- of mittens. The guest speaker for the afternoon was Mr. Baxter- His subject was the work and lives of two of the greatest women in the field of social reform— Elizabeth Fy and Florence Nightingale. Afternon tea was served by Mesdames Laird and Walker. The overseas parcel was won by Mrs. Laird. Points for best blooms resulted as follows: — Miss Meads 5 points, Mrs. Laird 4 points, Mrs. Dalziell 4 points, Mrs. McDonald 4 points.
