Borough Employees Strike In Masterton Has Been Averted

(P-A.) Wellington, June 23. The possibility of a stoppage of work by employees of the Masterton Borough Council has been averted, at least temporarily, said Mr. P. M. Butler. secretary of the Labourers’ Union, tonight. Since a strike ballot was taken negotiations had proceeded and the matter would be considered in Conciliation Council in Masterton on Wednesday. Pending the negotiations, which resulted in the case being referred to conciliation, the union had not disclosed the result of the strike ballot. He hoped it would be unnecessary to do so.
