HOMES MADE FROM SURPLUS BOMBERS

Recd. 9.50 p.m. Perth, Jan. 15. Thirty-three thousand aluminium homes were made hi Britain last year from surplus bombers. This was revealed by Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park, who reached Fremantle today in the Akaroa bound for New Zealand.

He said the bombers were broken down and the material put into the melting pot, from which aluminium was turned put.

One former aircraft factory was being used for mass production of these homes and output had reached 200 a week. Some of the homes were being sent to Brazil. Sir Keith will take up his post as Pacific representative for the Hawker Siddeley group of aircraft manufacturers with headquarters in Hew Zealand. He will visit Australia regularly. The group embraces 30 different companies, which produce all types of aircraft.

Sir Keith said Britain had caught up the lag in the manufacture of civil aircraft, and her first post-war civil transport, the Avro Tudor, was considered to be the equal of anything the United States produced.
