DEATH OF BILLY GIBSON. FORMER NOTED MANAGER OF NOTED BOXERS
New York, July 21. Billy Gibson. 7l, manager of Gene Tunney and the late Benny Leonard, when they were world ooxing champions and also other prominent lighters, died from a heart ailment tc-dav. Contracts with Tunney brought him 300,000 dollars in 1926-28. and he was said to hav e made one million dollars before retiring. An early Tunney contract, gave him one third of the winner’s earning’s. A later one was sdrnewhat amended. Tunney said* to-day that Gibson was :.o student of boxing and limited his auvice on ringe’aft to the admonition “take care of yourself," as his man stepped between th P ropes.
