MOVE IN U.S.A. TO PREVENT UNIONS COERCING WORKERS
Washington, May 9. The Senate has approved, oy 60 votes to 28, an amendment to its Labour Bill making it an ‘unfair labour practice” for unions, or their agents, to restrain or coerce their employees, whether union members or not, in the exercise of their collective bargaining rights. Employers are already prohibited from restraint or coercion. The amendment is one of four sponsored by the Republican chairman of the Senate Labour Committee (Mr. Robert Taft), to “toughen” the Senate’s labour legislation. A restrictive Labour Bill has already been passed by the House.
