WANGANUI LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

The opening meeting of 1947 of the Wanganui League of Mothers was held yesterday afternon in Christ Church Paris Hall Mrs. H. R. Bellringer presiding over the gathering, in the absence of the president, Mrs. Morrison. She was assisted by the secretary, Mrs F. C. Wilson, who deal! witli the correspondence and reported on the discussions at a council meeting and also on a meeting of the Town and Country Residential Nursery Committee, which she had attended. In her welcome Mrs. Bellringer mentioned new members and those who were present after being ill. Sympathy was extended to a bereaved member, and those who were ill.

A thoughtful address on 'Child Delinquency was given by Mr. W. E. Fossette, who continued the talk he gave at the “husbands’s" evening held at the close of last year. Vocal solos by Mrs. D. J. Tizard and Mrs. K. Kitney and elocutionary items by Mrs. F Reid added to the pleasure of the afternoon’s programme. Mrs. R. H. Tizard was pianist. Mesdames H. Taylor and J. Hannah were the door hostesses. Mrs. Guthrie presented the financial statement.
